Worship at First Baptist
Genuine worship stirs our hearts, stimulates our minds, and motivates our feet for Christian living. The Worship Services at First Baptist Nashville are focused on an “Audience of One” – The Lord God Almighty, Master and Creator of all the universe. It is our desire to honor, magnify, and lift up the precious name of Jesus through the powerful preaching of God’s Word along with dynamic praise and worship music.
A variety of creative expressions are employed to lead believers in meaningful, intimate worship with their Lord as we seek to impact others with the life-changing Good News of Jesus Christ. These expressions include offerings of praise rendered by our choirs and orchestra, personal testimonies, the reading of scripture, solos and ensembles, guest artists, drama, thrilling congregational singing, and speaking to God through prayer.
We invite you to join our family of faith in grand celebrations designed to lead us to moments of transformation and wonder.
The Service of Word & Table
8:15 a.m. | Sundays | Chapel
The Service of Word and Table takes place every Sunday morning from 8:15 – 8:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall while the Chapel is underconstruction. This is a time of worship that finds its center around the Scriptures and Communion. There are special prayer times, Scripture readings from the Old and New Testaments, and a message, all in a reflective and contemplative atmosphere.
The Sanctuary Service
10:30 a.m. | Sundays | Sanctuary
Following 9 a.m. Bible study, The Sanctuary Service with a choir begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary. We experience worship using the
Celebrating Grace Hymnal and our 59-rank Schantz organ and orchestra, on occasion. We employ a variety of creative expressions to provide meaningful, intimate worship. The Word of God is powerfully proclaimed through biblically-based sermons.
Following the musical portion of our worship time, our pastor, Dr. Frank R. Lewis, will lead us in a Biblically based sermon. Feel free to use the portion of your Order of Worship to write notes. In case you’d like to refer back to the sermon later on in the week, visit our podcasts page to hear the sermon again.
The Fellowship on Broadway
10:30 a.m. | Sundays | 300 East Building
Following 9 a.m. Bible study, The Fellowship on Broadway service with a band begins at 10:30 a.m. in Room 300 in the East Building. This service, is more modern and informal in nature. The music is led by a small, but gifted, worship team using contemporary hymn arrangements and new songs of praise, followed by a biblically-based message proclaiming the Word of God.
The Midweek Prayer Service
6:10 p.m. | Wednesdays | Fellowship Hall
Following our fellowship meal, The Midweek Prayer Service begins at 6:10 p.m. and features a time of fellowship and devotion. Our pastor will normally speak but there are plenty of guest speakers featured. It’s a time for us to gather, catch up, and spiritually be refreshed in the middle of the week.
6 p.m. | Wednesdays | 300 East Building
Each Wednesday, from 5:45 – 7:15 p.m., our students gather for Upside Down, a time of worship, teaching, games, and more. Worship is from 6 – 7 p.m. and then our Family Groups (groups of Grades 7 – 12 students who are led by our juniors and seniors) meet from 7 – 7:30 p.m. This time is designed to deepen our students’ understanding of God’s Word so that they are better equipped to share His love. Tim Wildsmith and our student praise team lead worship.
